When you are considering getting a body piercing, there are a quite a number of things that you need to keep in mind. One of the first things that you should consider is what kind of jewelry do you want when it the time comes. There are different pieces of jewelry that can be suited to different parts of your body, and you may even find that you have a body shape for one kind of jewelry but not another. While you should always consult with your piercer about what kind of jewelry you should have, keep the following points in mind.
The first thing that you should think about is material. While you may hear that any jewelry will be fine, keep in mind that the more nickel the jewelry has in it, the more likely it is that you may have some irritation. Many people are at least a little bit allergic to nickel, and you’ll find that if this metal sits in a open piercing that you will have a much harder time healing it. Getting jewelry that is made out of steel is much better for your skin and for your healing piercing. You’ll also find that you can get jewelry made out of niobium, which is also fairly non-reactive.
When considering what kind of body jewelry you want, you should also consider gauge. The gauge is the diameter of the piercing that goes through your body, and you’ll find that different places will vary regarding what gauge they pierce at. If you get your piercing done with a gun and have an earring literally shot into your earlobe, you’ll find that that tends to give you a piercing at an 18 gauge. Most piercing places will actually prefer to pierce you at a 14 or 12 gauge, which will leave you with a very slightly larger hole, but less chance of it tearing out.
When you are considering your body piercing jewelry, remember that at the beginning, it should be all about what your body will heal the fastest. There’s nothing saying that you can’t switch the jewelry out later. Just remember that your body will need to heal after it has essentially had an open wound put into it, and before you try anything really fancy, give your body a chance to get used to it. You’ll find that the right jewelry can make things a great deal easier on you all around!

The tribal era has once again become popular whether it is tribal tattoos or jewellery. One piece of tribal jewellery is belly rings. Belly rings are body piercing items used since ancient times. Tribes associate myths and rituals with the use of body-piercing jewels. These rings were symbols of status, and have become popular in present day, too. In my cultures the jewellery was a sign of the wearer’s wealth or victory in battle against another tribe. Tribal belly button rings are made of different materials, including gold, acrylic, and titanium. The jewellery is often decorated with many varieties of stones. The stones are usually unpolished to retain the natural look. Enamel is used in acrylic to feature the tribal mark. Natural colors suit the tribal jewelry most. Rainbow textures and gold-plate finish are also available, though they are not very popular. Red and black, white and black, metallic, and turquoise finishes are the most popular tribal jewellery seen.
Tribal Jewellery usually has designs consisting of hearts, stars, suns, and the like are some of the popular designs. Reverse designs are also attractive. Artistically designed dangles are aesthetic and sensuous. Many designs of rings, stars, and metamorphosis are the common dangling tribal designs. Rare designs are the favorites in the market. Personalized belly button rings are available with the logo of tribal designs, which is a recent trend in the market since the logo can be changed easily. Tribal design tattoos are also incorporated in the belly button rings. Tribal belly button jewellery must be selected with attention when used as initial jewelry. Usually tribal jewellery has a rough texture which can bruise or scratch skin.
Tribal jewellery used to be made of anything thing from bones to wood. Australia tribal jewellery is noted for having huge deposits of opal. Australian opals are only mined in a few select places around the country, making it one the most profitable stones in the Pacific. The biggest deposit of opals in Australia is lighting ridge. One of the most recognizable pieces of jewellery tied to a culture is the Hawaiian Lei. This floral necklace is given out when an outsider arrives, and thus is used widely as a commercial icon for travelers who visit the island. Special candy leis have also been introduced for children’s birthday parties.
Throughout the many tribal cultures, some jewellery pieces are more common than others. For example, necklaces, earrings and headdresses of different sorts are all very common items used by Polynesians to adorn themselves. Some pieces, such as the wearing of masks, are only apparent in certain areas. Tribal jewellery items are once again on the rise in jewellery and tattoos. These are great items to go with other fashion items.
